Our neighbor introduced us to this board game – it’s a turn-by-turn strategy game played with tiles, in which points are gained by completing towns, roads, fields, etc.
We first played it as a group of adults, but were surprised to find that our kids – who are 8 years old and 6 years old – also really enjoyed it. They quickly grasped the strategy aspect of it and are able to play competitively with adults. Which makes it the first board game in our house that everyone enjoys playing!! So it gets a lot of use 🙂
Buy it at Amazon for about $30 or visit your local gaming store.
Here’s a simple craft with some very dramatic results! Using the liquid inside any glowstick, you can create beautiful scattered effects that glow inside a glass jar.
The full tutorial is at thegoldjellybean.com, but here are the basics:
- Cut open a glow stick.
- Shake its contents into a jar.
- Shake it up!
This one is an amazingly easy project with HUGE returns – turn a shoebox, a magnifying glass, and a smartphone into a real projector!!
The steps are all covered in detail at photojojo.com, but basically:
- Cut a hole in the end of a shoebox.
- Cover the hole with a magnifying glass.
- Put your smartphone inside the box and prop it up, facing the glass.
- Put the lid back on, turn off the lights, and enjoy!!
